April 2021 donations list

We are only a few days into setting up the New Forest Craft Market Group on Facebook and I am so grateful for all the wonderful messages of support.

It is so lovely to see people share the group page with their friends. This shows that we all want to support local and think about the importance in investing in our community, as well giving free time to local organisations who nurture where we live.

Small changes in how we go about our daily lives, caring about the environment can encourage others to do the same and make a big difference to many.

Our April stall fees will be split between Ringwood Infant School and Ringwood Actions for Climate Emergency RACE.

Mary kindly wrote a few words for us.

Here is a bit about us:

Ringwood Actions for Climate Emergency (RACE) is a recently formed local charity aimed at bringing people in the Ringwood area together to take actions that help the environment, biodiversity and climate change.

We have a number of areas we are working on:

  • Trees for the future: engages people with the nature around them, by planting trees and wild flowers. We are also creating a Community Tree Nursery to provide an opportunity for local people to nurture new saplings for future plantings.
  • Do our bit: helps people to understand their carbon footprint and what they can do to reduce or offset it.
  • Make, do and mend: aims to share skills to allow repair and upcycling of items to reduce waste. In the New Year (2021) we hope to run sewing skills workshops.
  • Putting plastic in its place: encourages reduction in single-use plastic aiming to both raise awareness of the challenge and improve recycling in the area.
We enabled and encouraged the planting of 28,681 trees in 2020 and we are looking for donations to fund further trees, wildflowers and an irrigation system at the Tree Nursery.

We love to encourage buying locally.

Mary
