We are very happy to announce that we will be supporting Poulner Junior school with their fundraising.
They kindly let us know how the money we raise through our stallholders support will help them in their efforts.
We are currently raising money for a mindfulness area within the school playground.
A greater number of children have experienced anxiety this year as a result of the changes that they have to deal with and the awareness of social distancing measures that they have had to adopt for much of the last academic year.
The teaching team has noticed that this often manifests itself at playtime, with some children being uncomfortable with mixing in their class bubble groups whilst out at play.
The school would like to support those children on the return to school by offering a mindfulness zone in the playground where children can choose to take some time out, without being segregated from their classmates.
The proposal is to re-purpose a 6 x 4 m corner of the playground into a quieter zone that children can choose to access if they want to. The area would be AstroTurf and sun shades added for shelter and a sense of cover, without enclosing the outdoor space. Benches and small group tables would be added so that children could choose to take time out without being segregated from their friends.
